Background Description / Mission Statement
Chinese Young Volunteers Association(CYVA) was founded in December 5, 1994 by young people engaging in social welfare and social security. Under the leadership of Chinese Communist Youth League Central Committee, it is a national voluntary non-profit social organization. CYVA is a member of the All China Youth Federation, and the United Nations Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS).

The Association makes contributions to society by guiding the national youth volunteer service activities, and promotes cultural and ideological progress, improves the overall quality of youth, and contributes to comprehensive progress of economic and social development.

CSR Activities include:

Volunteer Service to West

- In 2003, sponsored by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Personnel, the Chinese Young Volunteers Association launched a “Volunteer Service to the West” program, guiding college students to the west and the grass-roots areas to perform meritorious deeds. This project was supported by various enterprises. For example, Infonet, Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Citigroup Information Technology Development Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Mengniu Dairy Group, Wumart Holdings Group Co., Ltd., Skyworth Group, Vanke Co., Ltd., China United Telecommunications Co., Ltd. , China Merchants Real Estate Holding Co., Ltd., Beijing Forbidden City Film Company, TCL Group Co., Ltd., Canon (China) Limited.

Enterprises’ Donation

- In October, 2008, the National Union of Students, the Chinese Young Volunteers Association and Zhuhai Hai-Rong Software Co., Ltd. donated 100,000 "learning windows 2000" broadband network multimedia educational software to the middle school students in Beijing, of which 5,000 units for the early secondary students, and 5,000 sets for high school students.

- On July 18, 2008, Lanxi Qiantang New Synthetic Materials Co., Ltd. donated 22,000,000 RMB to the Chinese Young Volunteers Association for China's young volunteers and the volunteer activities of the 2008 Olympic Games.

- In July, 2008, San Austria - The Carlyle Group donated 22,000,000 RMB to the Chinese Young Volunteers Association for the development of volunteers.

- On September 22, 2007, Tencent and China Young Volunteers Association co-held the press conference "Activation • Inheritance • Promotion- the protection of Chinese cultural treasures", in which the two partners would be committed to the cause of protection of traditional Chinese culture.

- On April 21, 2002, Kunming Branch of China Pacific Life Insurance Co., Ltd. provided the accidence insurance worth 800,000 RMB for the eight volunteers going to Weixin County.
